Stuffed apple crunch ~ (grain-free, gluten-free)

The sweet fragrant smell of warm apples & cinnamon filling the air… it’s one of my all-time favourite smells, instantly captivating and drawing me into a fall festivities state of mind. Crisp autumn days, cozying up in a knit blanket with a warm, stuffed cinnamon apple and a good book… the best! 🙂 I went apple picking last week, which meant of course I had to stock up! I returned home with a huge bushel of macouns, golden delicious, mcintosh, spartan, and my beloved fave, cortland ♥ I’ll be eating apples every day for the next 2 months maybe! Thus, apple …

Heatwave Coolers ~ The summer recipes I’m currently loving

It’s been so hot lately. Perhaps you know the feeling… days where the air feels so thick and weighty and humid, where just walking down the street somehow manages to stir up a sticky sweat. The sun is beating down, intense and unrelenting and so bright it makes you squint and it’s all beautiful and unbearable at the same time. Days where after being out and about, you plop down in a feverish, sweat-drenched, frizzy-haired state and realise you just don’t want to move. The heat of a NYC summer I shall never forget! Needless to say, eating watery fruits and …

My favourite homemade ice cream (dairy-free + vegan + SO easy!)

When you eat a lot of something, you want to make sure you’re consuming the best quality whole food ingredients possible. And ice cream is one of those foods that I’m sure will always be a staple in my diet. I could eat this at any time of the day… in the middle of winter, during a snowstorm, for breakfast, lunch or dinner. I can’t really think of a season or time of day when ice cream would not be appealing 🙂 Being both an ice cream fanatic and health coach has led to me seeking out a) healthier versions of …

Recipe for a vibrant, delish, (non-boring!) salad

Springtime weather is in full bloom here! For me that means getting back into my summer dance routine, spending as much time in nature as possible, and eating lighter, more colourful meals all around. I haven’t done a recipe post in a while and I thought I’d share with you something I’m really loving at the moment. My body has been in a MAJOR cleansing phase over the past several months. I always know when these phases are happening because I crave salads and other raw veggie goodness like a madman. I find myself doing weirdo things like eating salad for …

10-Days of Smoothies (+ 10 days of recipes!)

Lately I’ve been feeling the need to cleanse. I’ve noticed the tell-tale signs coming on… craving more sleep and feeling fatigued by the end of the day, lower energy than usual, and the urge to fill up on loads of colour and leafy green goodness. So I’ve decided to give my body a break and cut out some energy-suckers in my diet for a while. For me, this means no grains, processed sugars (fruit sugar is ok), or packaged snack foods like chips & crackers. I’ll be eating a combination of foods that support my body’s need to cleanse and provide …

Flourless Chocolate Brownies

So truth be told, I was aiming for flourless chocolate cake with this recipe. The silky smooth, rich kind that melts in your mouth like chocolate ganache. In celebration of my birthday this week, I wanted to try my hand at baking something new, a little decadent and of course chocolatey. Enter the flourless chocolate cake, the stuff dreams are made of. My boyfriend and I mixed up a batch this past weekend using my own combo of ingredients. I carefully cut a small triangle slice, pulled out my camera to take some photos… but something was just not working with …
